From Clyde

5km, 5 mins drive

Earnscleugh Castle is just 5km away and about a 5-minute drive, getting here from Clyde is quick and scenic. Start on Clyde’s quaint main street, cross the iconic single-lane Clyde Bridge over the Clutha River, then turn left onto Earnscleugh Road as you exit the bridge. Keep an eye out for Laing Road on your right, our main driveway is just 50 meters further along on the right. If you’re staying in the Coach House, you’ll find a second entrance that leads directly to our heritage stay.

From Queenstown Airport

83km / 1 hour, 10 mins drive

To access one of the best holiday destinations for families, head east on SH6 towards Cromwell, soaking in views of Lake Wakatipu and the majestic Remarkables mountain range. At Cromwell, switch onto State Highway 8 southbound toward Clyde. You’ll pass the Dunstan Trail mountain biking track on your right which is definitely worth a visit if you’re into biking! Follow the signs into Clyde’s main street, then use the directions above.

From Dunedin Airport

150km / 2 hours, 10 mins drive

Take State Highway 1 west to Milton, then turn onto State Highway 85 towards Alexandra, driving through some of Central Otago’s iconic golden hills. From Alexandra, turn left onto Earnscleugh Road just before the bridge that takes you into Alexandra town centre, and drive about 9km until you see the castle on your left. There’s plenty of on-site parking available making it the ideal choice for family trips, weekend getaways and those seeking adventure.

Handy Tips

Ignore Google Maps if it tries to send you down Laing Road! Our main driveway is just 50 meters further down Earnscleugh Road on the right.

All roads are sealed and well signposted, but be sure to watch out for cyclists, especially those coming off the Lake Dunstan Trail in Clyde.

There’s no direct public transport to our historic accommodation, but taxis operate locally. We’re happy to offer a complimentary pick-up from Clyde or Alexandra.
